How do you pick just one friend to be grateful for? I really struggled with this topic because I have a very close group of friends that I am thankful for in so many ways. I’ve talked about my best friend, Heather, my ride-or-die woman, so who do I pick after her?

After a lot of internal arguments and thought, I decided on Jenson. This man is a lot like a little brother to me, and a huge pain in the rear. Both of those things just kinda go together, to be honest. I met him through a game we both used to play, and our friendship blossomed outside of the game. Now? We work together, talk at least once a day, play games, and we sit in voice or video chats with others laughing and just having a good time. (Social distancing for the win!)

Jenson and his beautiful wife, Lisa.

All of that sounds pretty normal and great, so where’s the grateful part? Ya know, to be honest, this dude really is a blessing in my life. He always seems to just know when I need his unique twist on things. It might be ‘brotherly’ advice, or maybe just to laugh so hard I cry, he’s got it. We can discuss anything from apples to zebras, and every topic in between. He’s dealt with my serious discussions, my dumb questions, and even some dumb ideas.

Nomadic Inscriptions

Now, that heading doesn’t tell you a whole lot, but those two words are a huge part of our every day life with Jenson and I. Nomadic Inscriptions was his baby. Nomadic Inscriptions is about “inking our way across the map” by combining travel and tattoos.

I discovered that what I really wanted was to visit every country in the world and get tattoos from the culture and about the culture in at least half of them. That’s how this journey really started…and also why it continues.

Jenson Heaton – Nomadic Inscriptions

He and I started talking about things, and after one thing led to another, I’m now very much a piece of the Nomadic Inscriptions team. He calls me his “Director of Everything.” That’s probably pretty accurate, but I still view it as his baby… just don’t tell him I said so.

When Jenson first told me about Nomadic Inscriptions, the business side of me just couldn’t hold back. For those that know me, you know that it never really does, but there’s so much potential in this young man and his vision. He really gives me a lot of faith in the younger generation. He wants to make an impact. I try to be the change I want to see in the world. We kinda fit together like peanut butter and jelly.

Words, music, ink, and so much more

Jenson has a background in music, and holy hell is he talented. He’s a skilled writer, and actually listens to my editing comments. Of course the tattoo discussions are great too. So why did I pick him for this post? Simple. Jenson has a heart of gold, an amazing warrior spirit, and he has accepted me as a huge part of his world.

We joke, have fun, and have real talk. He let me, a total stranger, into his inner circle and he’s never treated me as anything less than deserving of that spot. He and his wife are just beautiful souls and I’m the blessed one to be a part of their ‘family’.

Thank you Jenson… for a bunch of things. For allowing me to be a part of your circle, your life, and your family. I can’t ever fully put into words how grateful I am to be a part of the light you shine everywhere.

Challenge

This week, the challenge will be to pick a friend let them know that they are important to you. Let them know that you are grateful for their presence in your world. If we don’t tell them, or at the very least show them, they will never know. That is on us to tell these people.

As always, we would love to hear from you. If there is something you’d like to tell us, share with us, or even ask; please feel free to comment below or you can contact us. Own your journey, and we will catch you on the flip side.
