A little about Break Our Silence…

The Break Our Silence team is a complex network of people, faces, voices, and above all, hearts. They all work together to support each other to bring every word of this site to fruition. Learn a little about Kristina and what brought her here.

Kristina Widener

Hi, I’m Kristina, and you could call me the ‘face behind the curtain’ so to speak of the Break Our Silence team. I wear many hat, many titles, and have a boat load of stubborn tenacity. All of this started for me the after the death of my infant son, Zackary. My world shattered, and in the healing process of going through my grief I wanted to find a way to help others.

How it started…

Through the process of writing my book and connecting with the amazing individuals I’ve met along the way, I’ve realized that there was a need for so much more. I began the process of trying to build a community presence both real world and online. Starting that process, this website is a huge part of that community.

Through my journey of grief, I have met a plethora of people that I have shared Zack’s story with. They range from other angel parents, to those who have never lost a child, to those who have friends or family on a similar grief path. I want others to know they’re not alone in their grief. I want other people not on this journey to be able to have a glimpse of this world, and maybe be able to understand just an inkling of what we go through.

The journey goes on…

I want to bring you on my journey, share with you my thoughts and feelings…and maybe help someone know they’re not alone. Every part of this website is designed to do that to the very best of my ability. When I find a quote that resonates with me or with someone else, I’ll share it. Some I’ll either find a graphic for, or I’ll make one. There’s resources I’ll post, a calendar to show a myriad of things, and even the forum in the works.

This started as my personal journey, but I wanted to help as many others as I could. What was mine I now share with the world, thank you for taking a moment to walk with me. You are not alone, none of us are.
